- Supply chain flexibility and cost – it gives them an alternate to air where ocean lead times are too long. This is useful for products which are not in short production but for which demand is still strong enough that the ocean lead-time cannot support but air is too expensive
- The ability to take individual containers space as opposed to full train was a big part of customer’s decision as they need to protect their air capacity for New Product peaks and so cannot move entirely to rail
